I should have known from a very early age that I was destined for a career in finance. How else do you explain why my (6) brothers and sisters always came to me first if they needed to borrow $5. With a reputation like that, you may not be surprised to hear that I lobbied hard each time we played Monopoly for the position of “Banker”.
Life as a youngster made sense to me. My parents were firm, yet fair. So with all my DNA pointing to that of a “Rule Follower” I quickly learned many of life’s lessons regarding the importance of family and relationships, work ethic, delayed gratification, and benevolence; to name a few. The lessons learned about money and the value of money, as taught by my parents; will remain with me for life. Their ingenious chore lists led to an allowance each week, only if you completed your mandatory tasks. I have told the story countless times of my legendary baking skills, motivated only by the fact that the best paying job in the house was baking (50 ₵). To this day, I still enjoy the challenge of making great pastry.
By my teenage years, I was already researching ways to create wealth for myself. My best move came at the age of 22; I found my wife, Fran. From there, our partnership of a safe and supportive environment allowed us to flourish as a family, complete with (3) children. All along, the early teachings of my parents gave me the courage to start a career in financial planning.
It has been an honour to work for so many great clients over the years. I think it is fair to say my circle of friends is far and wide because of the relationships that evolve in working together with so many great individuals and families. I look forward to providing a similar safe and supportive setting for all new clients that I will have the good fortune of helping in the years to come.
I suppose you could say that my passion for helping people succeed began right out of University while working alongside some of Canada’s hardest working business owners in the food service industry. As their dedicated Business Development Manager, my clients were so busy working day and night on day to day operations, it left them little time or energy to address the bigger business issues they faced. My mindset was to always be objective and help them build and maintain a strong business plan. And I always knew that providing good value in exchange for their precious time was how I could build loyalty. So when I discovered that I was able to make a positive difference in their lives and in their business, I was immediately hooked on the feeling of being able to help people solve their everyday problems.
Fast forward to today, and I surely look back on my previous experience as the catalyst for a career in financial services. Today, I pride myself in helping dedicated individuals, families and business people as they work to put their financial obstacles in the proverbial rear view mirror. I wake up every morning, excited for the challenges that I know will be put in front of me when I get to my office. As a long-time competitor in organized sports and in life, I love having challenges put in front of me. Tell me that something is impossible and I will rise to the challenge and look to show you reasons why it can be done.
In my personal life, I have always had a keen sense of adventure. And through my life experience, I have had the fortune of meeting some pretty fantastic people. Always keeping an open mind, I continue to learn amazing things from the remarkable people I encounter and do my best to make the greatest impact I can in the lives of the people I serve. I look forward to the relationships I will continue to build as I move forward in life.
For me, I realize that success is not accomplished alone. And I chose early on in life to define my personal success by the positive impact that I make on my family, community, peers and my clients. My business is just the conduit with which I can carry this passion forward in leaving a positive mark on so many people’s lives. For this I feel extremely fortunate.
In the years to come, I look forward to facing the obstacles that lie ahead. And I also look forward to growing and succeeding alongside the clients I serve.
What are the challenges that you face in your business or personal life? I want to know how I can help make life easier for you and your family.
When my husband was transferred from Toronto to work in the Durham Region, we packed our bags without hesitation. Having grown up in small town Ontario, and after living 15+ years in Canada’s largest city, we welcomed the chance to slow down and get a little closer to my roots.
As a teen, I worked in my entrepreneurial family’s home office in the Ottawa Valley. After a move to Toronto, I worked with numerous companies including various doctor’s offices, a fashion wholesaler and an upscale bakery. I discovered that the most comfortable, trustworthy and successful businesses are those that are rooted with strong family values and that strive for a family oriented atmosphere. So when I was offered the opportunity to join Stephen and Isaac’s team at Compass Wealth Partners, there was an immediate sense of belonging.
With my new beginning in financial planning, I look forward to the challenges in learning the processes and systems aligned with the business. In meeting with several clients already, I am grateful to be welcomed into the fold and to see the extra mile that our team will go to support them. I am excited to bring my years of administration experience to assist our clients and take our service to the next level.
